The Songweave Tapestry is a production group and network of artists, setting out to preserve the craft of storytelling amidst this sea of fleeting noise that the modern word brings.

We bring together like-minded creatives with atmospheric stories to tell, through films, art, and music, in an ode to reviving the old and creating a legacy of new.

…a tapestry of stories told, of legends, myths and folk tales; a legacy of old, rich in lore, mystery and atmosphere, transcending times and realms; from the creepily gothic, to the rustically whimsical.

Our current endeavor is 'The Crooked Weave', a folklore anthological multi-media series of stories exploring folklore tales and all things that go bump in the night.

WHY NOW?

We have been born into a time where voices shout over one another to be heard. Where people struggle to find time just to take a moment of solitude. Where everything is rushed, so that the whirlwind of time fleets past us. Attention spans are shortening, for fear of being left behind. There is more stress, more pressure, more noise...it is a time when art is suffering. People feel as if they do not have the time, the money, or the energy to be creative.

And yet, in many ways, what's new? Art has never been mainstream in our society. Artists have often had to swim upstream to create it. And yet...art has still been made. For as poor & bohemian as artists are, inside every one of us lies a burning urge to create. And for as long as audiences have been stressed, hurried and fleeting, still have they found time to listen to the stories and songs of their time.

The message is this: art & stories are integral to us as human beings, so let's feed it. Let's create. Let's add to the legacy of that which has come before us.

OUR GUILD NAME

Historically, a guild was an association of artisans & craftsmen with shared vision and interests. They banded together to further their crafts, with such organisations serving as a quality assurance to their customers. Generally speaking, it's only in fantasy lore that a "guild of bards" would ever exist...that is until now. We are that collective of bards, bringing little moments of poetry into everyday modern life.

Tapestries would often depict a complex saga of tales & heroes, and such heavy-woven art pieces would often take many, many hours, and a lot of patience and effort to complete. The legacy was an art piece that would outlive the maker, and would preserve the stories of its weave for many more lifetimes. And thus, our guild sets out to create the same, weaving our songs & stories into a tapestry that is our legacy to the world.~

Sofi Waghorne is a UK based actor, musician, writer, and founder of The Songweave Tapestry.

Robin Zofia is an artist who works in a wide range of mediums, specialising in character art.

The guild's residential ditigal artist, who is behind our concept art & storyboards.

JOHN KNOWLES

John Knowles, founder of Fetch Theatre, is an award-winning writer, director, actor and producer. His work is uncompromising, lyrical and full of sharp wit and pathos.
